Most HR escalations begin as small issues: attendance drift, performance confusion, interpersonal conflict. A simple manager routine prevents “surprise” crises.

Weekly (10 minutes per team member):
What went well? What’s blocked? What’s next?
Capture 2–3 bullet notes (facts, not opinions)
Monthly:
Review attendance/timekeeping exceptions
Confirm training and policy acknowledgments are current
Identify any role changes that affect classification or pay practices
Escalation rules (write them down):Escalate immediately if there is a complaint involving harassment, discrimination, threats, safety, or wage-hour disputes.
Why this works:Documentation creates clarity. Clarity reduces conflict.
